Gold Coast Running Physio
David Coombs is a practice partner and Physiotherapist at Physiologic, Robina. He specialises in treating running related injuries and coaching running technique and performance. He also runs the Metabolic Testing program which can help improve the way you train for performance, weight loss, and/or health.
Runners tend to develop injuries to the lower limbs such as plantar fascitis, achilles tendonitis (or more correctly, plantar fasciopathy and achilles tendonopathy), stress fractures and shin splints, and knee pain such as patello femoral pain and ITB syndrome. They can also develop muscle strains to the calf, quads, hamstrings, and glutes, as well as injuries and imbalance around the hips and spine - even neck and shoulder pain when running are more common than you'd think!
As a running physio, David strives to unlock the underlying biomechanical or technique issues that are causing your injury or delaying your fitness development. He does not simply identify the structure causing your injury; rather he will examine your unique posture, strength, flexibility and technique to discover why you are experiencing an injury. Once the underlying problem is identified he guides you through the correct treatments, technique adjustments and conditioning exercises to correct the fault and eliminate the problem.
You can see David for any type of injury - it doesn't have to be from running. He uses the same principles to treat all patients whether you injured your back at work, twisted an ankle playing netball, or want to exercise to lose weight.
